The BM--Theory degree is a 122 semester credit program for students who are interested in developing their musical research and analysis skills. The program focuses on musical analysis, the development of compositional skills from various historical and modern practices, and scholarship in music. A written junior project and senior thesis are requirements of the BM--Theory degree. The degree serves as excellent preparation for graduate work in theory or musicology. Applicants should possess strong academic skills. Although applicants may perform their
admission audition on any instrument or voice, a strong keyboard background is a desirable attribute for students working toward the BM--Theory degree.
