The BM--Applied Music degree is a 122 semester credit program designed for performance-oriented students whose abilities and desires will lead to careers as concert artists, orchestral musicians, or private studio instructors. It also prepares students for entrance into graduate level performance programs. The program focuses on preparation for public performance, it emphasizes mastery of technique and a high level of musical maturity, and culminates in a public solo recital. Applicants to the BM-Applied Music degree must demonstrate through the
admission audition an ability for technical and musical achievement in their chosen performing medium. Concentrations are offered in three areas: piano, voice and instrumental (flute, oboe, clarinet, saxophone, bassoon, horn, trumpet, trombone, euphonium, tuba, percussion, violin, viola, cello, string bass, or harp).

- Foreign language competency at the 102-level is expected at matriculation. Students without 102 competency will be required to complete foreign language through 102.
- Class piano is not accepted in lieu of the applied piano requirement.
