Selecting Colors by Values
Every color has a hexadecimal (hex) value. When designing a web page, you may need a specific color (e.g., the Blugold colors). To simplify the process of choosing colors and to assure that the colors chosen are correct, you can enter a specific color's hex value. The hex value represents values for red, green, and blue with FF=strongest, 00=weakest.
The acronym RGB stands for red, green, and blue. RGB is the system video monitors use to create color by using light. Monitors have three "guns" inside that "shoot" red, green, and blue light to every pixel on the screen. The computer blends these three light beams together in varying proportions to create the other colors you see.
The acronym HSL stands for hue, saturation, and luminosity. Hue refers to the shade or tint of a color. Saturation refers to how dull or vivid a color appears. Luminosity refers to the brightness of a color.
FrontPage allows you to select a color by specifying any of the values explained here. This document explains the values of some colors and how to a select color by entering values.
Entering Color Values: Hex Values
In order to select colors by their values, you must first open the More Colors dialog box and then enter the values.
Accessing the More Colors Dialog Box: Menu Option

From the Format menu, select Font...
The Font dialog box appears.

From the Color pull-down list, select More Colors...
The More Colors dialog box appears.
Accessing the More Colors Dialog Box: Toolbar Option

On the Formatting toolbar, click the
next to FONT COLOR
» select More Colors...
The More Colors dialog box appears.
Entering Hex Values

In the More Colors dialog box, in the Value text box, place your insertion point between the brackets { }

After deleting the current value, type the appropriate hex value for the desired color in the format {XX,XX,XX}
EXAMPLE: Between the brackets, type FF,06,CC -
To preview the newly selected color, press [Enter]
The new color appears in the New box. -
To select the new color, click OK
To exit, click CANCEL
Entering Color Values: HSL or RGB

Click CUSTOM...
The Color dialog box appears.

To enter a HSL value, in the Hue, Sat, and Lum text boxes, type the desired values
To enter a RGB value, in the Red, Green, and Blue text boxes, type the desired values
NOTE: As you alter the values, the color changes in the Color|Solid box. -
To save the color as a custom color for your document, when you are satisfied with your custom color, click ADD TO CUSTOM COLORS
Your new color appears under Custom colors. -
Click OK
