Getting the text of your document positioned on a web page in the way you want may require some additional formatting. This document will detail the steps necessary to add paragraph formatting to your page by utilizing keyboard commands, menu options, and the Properties pane.
Dreamweaver offers four paragraph alignment options to select from: left, right, center, and justify.
Left: produces text that is vertically straight on the left-hand side of the paragraph
Right: produces text that is vertically straight on the right-hand side of the paragraph
Center: produces text that is not straight on either side of the paragraph, but is perfectly centered in your paragraph
Justify: produces text that is vertically straight on the left and right-hand sides of the paragraph
Place your insertion point in the paragraph you want formatted
To ALIGN left, press [L]
To ALIGN right, press [R]
To ALIGN center, press [C]
To ALIGN justify, press [J]
Place your insertion point in the paragraph you want formatted
From the Text menu, select Align » appropriate selection (Left, Center, Right, or Justify)
Place your insertion point in the paragraph you are formatting
In the Properties pane, click the appropriate alignment button

Dreamweaver provides a standard paragraph indent approximately equal to one half inch. This indent is also called a block quote.
Place the insertion point in the paragraph you are formatting
Press [Ctrl] + [Alt] +[]]
The paragraph is indented.
To further indent the paragraph, repeat step 2
OPTIONAL: To reduce or eliminate a paragraph indent, press
[Ctrl] + [Alt] +[[].
Your paragraph will be outdented.
Place your insertion point in the paragraph you are formatting
From the Text menu, select Indent
To further indent the paragraph, repeat step 2
OPTIONAL: To reduce or eliminate a paragraph indent, from the Text menu, select Outdent
Place your insertion point in the paragraph you are formatting
In the Properties pane, click TEXT INDENT![]()
To further indent the paragraph, repeat step 2
OPTIONAL: To reduce or eliminate a paragraph indent, click TEXT OUTDENT![]()
If you want to begin a new line, but not a new paragraph, you can insert a line break. Inserting a line break will move the insertion point from the line on which you are working to the very next line on the page without leaving a blank line between the two.
Place the insertion point where you would like to insert the line break
Press [Shift] + [Enter]
Place the insertion point where you would like to insert the line break
From the Insert menu, select HTML » Special Characters » Line Break
