Change of Major/Minor Procedures

How to change to a Major or Minor in the Political Science Department:

 


How to change your major or minor to Political Science or to a Social Studies, Broadfield Teaching major with a Political Science concentration:

1. Come during the scheduled office hours of Dr. Rodd Freitag (SSS 200E) for an advising session. If you are not free during his office hours, please email him (freitard@uwec.edu) to schedule an appointment. Bring your "What-If" Degree Audit with you for the meeting.

2. After you meet with Dr. Freitag, you must present a signed Change of Major/Minor form to the program assistant listed below, who will change your major online and assign you to a Political Science advisor.

The appropriate program assistant to contact for changing your major to Political Science and assigning you an advisor is:

How to change your major to Criminal Justice:

1. Come during the scheduled office hours of either Dr. Randall Beger (SSS 429) or Dr. Rodd Freitag (SSS 200E) for an advising session. If you are not free during their office hours, please email one of them (begerrr@uwec.edu or freitard@uwec.edu) to schedule an appointment. Bring your "What-If" Degree Audit with you for the meeting.

2. After you meet with Dr. Beger or Dr. Freitag, you must present a signed Change of Major/Minor form to the program assistant listed below, who will change your major online and assign you to a Criminal Justice advisor.

The appropriate program assistant to contact for changing your major to Criminal Justice and assigning you an advisor is:

How to change your minor to Global Studies:

1. Come during the scheduled office hours of Dr. Ali Abootalebi (SSS 229A) for an advising session. If you are not free during his office hours, please email him (abootaar@uwec.edu) to schedule an appointment. Bring your "What-If" Degree Audit with you for the meeting.

2. After you meet with Dr. Abootalebi, you must present a signed Change of Major/Minor form to the program assistant listed below, who will change your major online and assign you to an advisor.

How to declare a Pre-Law designation:

The Pre-Law designation does not substitute for a major or minor in the baccalaureate degree at UW—Eau Claire. Pre-law students must select a comprehensive major (60 credits) or a major/minor combination and be advised by that program. Students choosing the Pre-Law designation will be assigned to a pre-law advisor for consultation on course selection, law school admission test preparation, law school application, and law careers.

1. Come during the scheduled office hours of either Dr. Margaret Gilkison (SSS 200C), Dr. Peter Myers (SSS 227), or Dr. James Tubbs (SSS 207A) for an advising session. If you are not free during their office hours, please email one of them (gilkisme@uwec.edu, myerspc@uwec.edu, tubbsjw@uwec.edu) to schedule an appointment.

2. After you meet with one of the pre-law advisors, you must present a signed Change of Major/Minor form to the program assistant listed below, who will add your pre-law designation online and officially assign you to an advisor.
