Step 1: Check your e-mail for your degree audit and print
it out. Then do the following:
1. Find your registration time (it is at the end of the message, right
before the degree
audit). You must see your adviser and get your PAC before that time.
2. Check your degree audit. Is your major and/or minor correct? If not, go
to the
Change of
Major/Minor website for instructions on how to change your major or minor. Then request a
new
degree audit through the MyBlugold.
Step 2: Check for any “holds” on the MyBlugold.
From MyBlugold, select My Info. Under My Registration, select Registration Appointment and Holds to see if there is anything preventing you from registering. This is usually a transcript that has not been received or a payment that has not been made.
Step 3: Make an
appointment with an adviser
Do this ahead of your appointment
time, especially if you are undeclared. The name and
phone number of your adviser is printed on your Degree Audit. Freshmen and sophomores not
in good academic
standing, and all students with majors in the College of Business, and transfer students without a previous degree must have an adviser's
approval to
register and must obtain a PAC (Personal Advising Code) from their
advisers before
registering.
Step 4: Review your
degree audit
Your Degree Audit matches courses you have taken (or are enrolled in now) to
graduation
requirements based on the
University Catalogue you are following, the degree you
plan to
earn, and the program(s) you have selected. Check the data in the top box
to make sure it is correct. The rest of the Degree Audit is based on this
information:
A
or "OK" means you have already met that requirement.
A
means
that you are in the progress of meeting a requirement.
A
or "**" denote a requirement that you have
not met.
Use this
information to plan your course selections.
Step 5: Read the Class
Schedule
Watch for comments regarding permission that may be required for a course.
Preassignments and special
permissions for students must be coded on a computer file in the appropriate
department office before registration.
You can view the Class Schedules on the Web. Select a term, then a
category of courses you are looking for. Once you've chosen the program or
department, you can see the course description by clicking on the course number
within the schedule listing.
Step 6: Check course
prerequisites
Students must meet the course
prerequisites indicated in the Class Schedules and the
University
Catalogue. Students seeking an exception to the prerequisites listed must
obtain permission from the Chair of the department offering the course.
Step 7: Plan your
classes and complete a Course Selection Form
Use your Degree Audit, the
Class Schedule, and the
University Catalogue to compile a
list of courses and alternates. Total your credits. A credit load in
excess of 18 requires permission from the Dean of the College in which
you are enrolled. Make a list of alternate choices!
Step 8: Meet
with Your Adviser
Your adviser will review your Degree Audit with you and discuss courses that
complement your career goals and
personal interests as well as meet degree program requirements.
If you are a Freshman or Sophomore, a Junior or Senior not in good
standing, or a College of Business major, or a Transfer student without a previous
degree, obtain your PAC (Personal Advising Code) from your adviser.
Step 9: Pay $100
deposit
You must pay a $100 deposit
at least 24 hours before you register. This goes toward your next
semester’s tuition. If you wish to take Winterim classes,
you must also pay a separate $100 deposit.
NOTE: If you cannot pay the $100
and you have financial aid, check with the Financial Aid Office to see if you are eligible for a one-time waiver.
Step 10: Register on MyBlugold
1. You may register from any computer with
internet
access at your appointed time.
Instructions for registering on MyBlugold are available at http://www.uwec.edu/advising/students/newregistrationsystem.pdf.
2. Request that a copy of your schedule be sent to your email account.
Print it out.
3. If you are unable to register at your
appointed registration time, you may give a list of
courses to the
Registration Office and
they will register you.
