How to Register:
Step 1: Obtain
registration materials
If you wish to
register as a Special graduate student, or if you are an admitted graduate
student who has not enrolled in graduate-level coursework at UW-Eau Claire within the
past year, you will need to complete a Special Student Registration form.
Contact Registration Services, Schofield 128, (715) 836-2425, fax 715-836-3846,
or e-mail:
registration@uwec.edu.
If you are a
classified graduate student (admitted to a program) who has attended UW-Eau
Claire within the
past year, you do not need to complete a Graduate Student Registration form.
Step 2: Pay $100 deposit
Make a minimum $100 tuition down
payment in Schofield 108 or mail a check payable to UW-Eau Claire (do not
send cash) to: Cashiers, Business Office, UW-Eau Claire, P.O. Box 5005, Eau
Claire, WI 54702-5005. Be sure to write your student ID or social security
number on your check. See the Fee and Payment Information page for methods of
payment. If registering by mail, send your payment with your course
selection form to Registration Services. If you are a new student, you
must also complete and sign a Payment Plan Agreement
available through the Business office, which can be submitted at
the Cashiers office.
Step 3: Meet with your adviser
Consult with your adviser if
you are a classified graduate student who has not yet filed an approved program
plan. You will need a PAC (Personal Advising Code) from your adviser in
order to register for classes.
Step 4: Obtain special permissions
Enrollment restrictions are noted in the course listings. If permission is
required, approval for you to enroll in the course must be coded on a computer
file before you register. Once permission has been coded by the approving
office, you must officially register for the course to receive credit.
Permission is also required from a dean for credit overloads.
Step 5: Register for classes
See
Calendar for specific dates to register.
You may register in the following ways:
- On MyBlugold.
Instructions for registering on MyBlugold are available at http://www.uwec.edu/advising/students/newregistrationsystem.pdf. You will need a PIN (Personal Identification Number) which you can
request from Registration
Services. Assistance is available in Schofield 128.
Your $100 payment must have been received in the Business Office before you can
access the
registration menu. Also, you must enter your PAC, if it is required.
- By mail.
Mail your course selection form with PAC, if required, $100 payment, and a Payment Plan Agreement to: Registration, Schofield 128, UW-Eau Claire, P.O. Box 4004,
Eau Claire, WI 54702-4004.
- By FAX. Send
a copy of your course selection form (with PAC, if required) to Registration,
715-836-3846. Your $100 payment and Partial Payment Agreement must be
received in the
Business Office before your registration can be processed.
Registration Policies
Credit Load
Graduate students are limited to a maximum of 15 credits per semester,
except MAT degree-seeking students registering for their professional semester.
To register for a credit overload, you must request permission for overload from
the dean of your college/school. You must have the Dean's permission
before you will be allowed to register for an overload. Overload approval
is granted only in special circumstances.
Double-Numbered Courses
For courses which are double-numbered, only those for which the 500 or
600 numbers appear in the schedule of classes are available for graduate credit.
For double-numbered courses that have several sections, only those with a "G"
after the section number are available for graduate credit at the 500 or 600
level. Graduate students who enroll for double-numbered courses will be
automatically registered at the graduate (500, 600) level. Graduate
students who wish to enroll in such courses for undergraduate credit should
contact Registration Services, Schofield Hall 128, to have the registration
processed.
Variable-Credit Courses
For some variable-credit graduate courses, such as thesis or research paper, you may have to enter the specific number of credits for which you are registering. On MyBlugold, after you have registered for the course, click on "Update A-F, S/U, Audit or Credits". Select the number of credits, then submit.
General Information
Classified Status:
New or transfer graduate students who wish to pursue a program toward a
degree should submit an application for admission as a classified student to the
Office of Admissions by December 1st. You must also provide the necessary
documents of previous college and university work as outlined in the Graduate
Catalogue. Some graduate programs have additional application requirements
and deadlines. For more specific information, refer to the Graduate
Catalogue or contact the department offering the program.
Special Student Status:
Students not wishing to pursue a degree program may register as "Special" students.
Registration as a special student involves completing a Graduate Student
Registration form available from Registration Services, Schofield Hall 128, or online at https://apply.wisconsin.edu.
Graduate special students should make particular note that registration may not
be allowed in graduate courses leading directly to credit toward the MBA and MSN
degrees. Approval for registration in such courses is typically allowed
only for those admitted to the programs. For a special student to register
for such a course, permission of the respective offices is required.
Credits may be earned as a special graduate student;
however, the University makes no commitment to apply such credits to degree
programs or requirements. When a special student is
admitted to a degree program, no more than 12 previously earned credits may be
applied to the requirements for the degree.
