Awards


Outstanding Graduating Senior Psychology Major Award ($200)

Selection Criteria:

  • Fall, Spring, or Summer graduation date
  • Psychology GPA of 3.60 or higher; Overall GPA of 3.30 or higher
  • Excellence in Scholarship (intellectual involvement outside the classroom)
    • scholarly papers written out of class
    • papers/posters presented at professional conferences; papers submitted for publication
    • active involvement in faculty/student collaborative research; independent research
  • Excellence in Service to the University, Department, and/or Community
    • outstanding service activities provided to the community
    • positions of leadership held in student academic/service organizations (e.g., Psi Chi, Psychology Club, BSRG)
    • outstanding work in an internship
    • outstanding work as a teaching apprentice
  • Ability to attend Psychology Awards Reception (typically held the Friday night before spring commencement)

Outstanding Student Research Award ($100)

Selection Criteria:

  • Fall, Spring, or Summer graduation date
  • Psychology GPA of 3.60 or higher
  • Overall GPA of 3.30 or higher
  • Excellence in Scholarship (intellectual involvement inside and outside the classroom)
    • papers submitted for publication
    • papers/posters presented at professional conferences
    • active involvement in faculty/student collaborative research
    • independent research
    • scholarly papers written in and out of class (e.g., final Psyc 470 paper)
  • Ability to attend Psychology Awards Reception (typically held the Friday night before spring commencement)

Outstanding Service to the Department of Psychology Award ($100)

Selection Criteria:

  • Fall, Spring, or Summer graduation date
  • Excellence in Service to the Department
    • student representative to the Curriculum Committee
    • active participation in Departmental initiatives
    • outstanding work as a teaching apprentice
  • Positions of leadership held in student academic/service organizations (e.g., Psi Chi, Psychology Club, BSRG)
  • Ability to attend Psychology Awards Reception (typically held the Friday night before spring commencement)

Outstanding Service to the Community Award ($100)

Selection Criteria:

  • Fall, Spring, or Summer graduation date
  • Excellence in Service to the Community
    • outstanding work in a service-learning or other service project that extended beyond curricular requirements
    • outstanding work in an internship
  • Ability to attend Psychology Awards Reception (typically held the Friday night before spring commencement)

Early Career Award ($100)

Selection Criteria:

  • Freshman or sophomore class ranking
  • Psychology GPA of 3.30 or higher; Overall GPA of 3.00 or higher
  • Excellence in Scholarship (intellectual involvement inside and outside the classroom)
    • papers/posters presented at professional conferences
    • active involvement in faculty/student research collaborations; independent research
    • scholarly papers written in and out of class
  • Excellence in Service to the University, Department, and/or Community
    • outstanding service activities provided to the community, university, or department of psychology
    • active involvement in student academic/service organizations (e.g., Psi Chi, Psychology Club, BSRG)
    • outstanding work as a teaching apprentice
  • Ability to attend Psychology Awards Reception (typically held the Friday night before spring commencement)
