  2. How can I get a grant for a curricular project, field trip, equipment, etc.?
  3. Where can I get some help in developing a grant?
  4. I am interested in developing a teaching-learning research project. Who can help me conceptualize the study? Find funding to support it?
  5. Do all grant requests have to go through the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs?

1. I need a specific piece of software for my students. Where can I find the dollars?

If you have exhausted Department, School, and College sources, contact Chris Lind (lindct@uwec.edu or 715-836-3405) in the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (ORSP) to identify funding sources.

2. How can I get a grant for a curricular project, field trip, equipment, etc.?

Information about both internal and external grant offerings is available from the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs. In addition, Burt Spangler (spanglbh@uwec.edu) in the Teaching and Learning Technology Development Center can provide advice about audio-visual equipment, Chip Eckardt (eckardpp@uwec.edu) in CNS can provide advice about computer equipment, and Don Schleicher (schleidd@uwec.edu) in the Teaching and Learning Technology Development Center can provide advice about distance education technology.

3. Where can I get some help in developing a grant?

The primary source on campus for assistance in grant writing is the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs. The Office of Research and Sponsored Programs can help you identify potential grant offerings, formulate the budget, and submit the proposal documents. That office also offers assistance in conceptualization and writing. For more information, contact Chris Lind, Associate Vice Chancellor for Research and Sponsored Programs, at lindct@uwec.edu or call him at 715-836-3405. The NET Council provides assistance in preparing proposals for UW System Undergraduate Teaching and Learning Grants.

4. I am interested in developing a teaching-learning research project. Who can help me conceptualize the study? Find funding to support it?

The Network for Excellence in Teaching can help you conceptualize a research project that focuses on teaching and learning. For more information, contact Ron Mickel, Coordinator of NET, at mickelre@uwec.edu or call him at 715-836-3621. The Office of Research and Sponsored Programs provides assistance in locating financial support. Contact Chris Lind, Associate Vice Chancellor for Research and Sponsored Programs, at lindct@uwec.edu or call him at 715-836-3405.

5. Do all grant requests have to go through the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs?

The Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (ORSP) processes all grant proposals for local funding as well as for those that leave the UW-Eau Claire campus. The ORSP provides information about extramural funding opportunities at (http://www.uwec.edu/orsp/Programs/Extramural.htm). That page includes a link to the Extramural Transmittal Form, which is required when submitting extramural grant proposals to the Office. The ORSP also directly manages several local and UW System grant programs. Of these, UW System Undergraduate Teaching and Learning Grants offer funding for teaching-learning projects. You can find information about these internal grants at (http://www.uwec.edu/orsp/Programs/Internal.htm).
