INTERNSHIP PROGRAM
The Florida Department of Health is pleased to announce a unique opportunity for
undergraduate students to participate in hands-on internship experience. This
internship program will give you a chance to learn more about the various disciplines
in environmental health, and to assist you in developing interests and skills into a fulltime
career in environmental health. Participating in this internship can influence how
fast and how far you can advance in the field of environmental health, it allows you to
enhance your job satisfaction, the amount of responsibility you assume, and it gives
you a greater flexibility to change career plans.
PROPOSED SALARY: $12 an hour
DATE OF INTERNSHIP: May-August Full time; September –April Part time
REQUIREMENTS:
Ethnic minority
Undergraduate student in a college or university
Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident of U.S. or its possessions
Must be a junior or senior in any of the natural sciences
Must have a minimum 2.5 G.P.A
Must be able to work outdoors
Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Summer Interns: Primary duties will include inspection of swimming pools, tanning facilities,
mobile homes, migrant labors, group care, food sanitation, etc.
Fall and Spring Interns: Primary duties include indoor projects dealing with the various areas
stated above. Also occasional inspections will be done.

unofficial transcript, and a letter of recommendation from their faculty advisor.
