"Dear colleagues,
I am delighted to announce that applications are currently being accepted for "Wisconsin Express 2013," a week-long cultural immersion placement for health professions students from all majors nearing completion of their degree/certification. There are 11 community/regional sites this year. Each site welcomes a small group (typically about 8 students) who plunge into interprofessional team-building while exploring the local population's health resources, challenges, community organizations, environment, and culture.
Wisconsin Express 2013 will take place from May 19-24. Applications are due FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 15.
A publicity flyer (PDF for you to print and post) is attached. For more information and a link to the online application, please see: http://www.ahec.wisc.edu/wisconsin-express
Program notes: -- The application process is competitive; the quality of the student's essay is an important factor in the selection process. -- We are especially seeking students who will actively and thoughtfully contribute to the interprofessional group at their placement site. -- Wisconsin AHEC will again cover the majority of costs for students to participate in this 5-day residential program. Participants pay a $100 fee and the cost of some meals. -- Students who indicate interest in multiple sites are more likely to receive a placement offer to one of their preferred sites.
Please share this announcement widely. Thanks for your help promoting this opportunity to your students! --Keri Robbins, Wisconsin Express Coordinator
