The position is for an Environmental Health Specialist-Senior / Asbestos and Lead Inspector and is located in Madison, WI. This position is responsible for implementing public health provisions and compliance to ensure that persons performing regulated lead or asbestos activities are properly trained and certified and that their regulated activities do not adversely affect the health or safety of the public and the environment and that training providers operate in accordance with established standards.
Position responsibilities include: conducting onsite compliance inspections of regulated asbestos, lead and renovation work sites; investigating possible regulatory violations based on tips, complaints or referrals from other agencies; conducting necessary environmental sampling and testing; documenting compliance inspections and findings and updating information in the unit database; conducting records audits and report reviews of training providers and companies that conduct regulated work; recommending enforcement actions; providing compliance and technical assistance, training and consultation to certified industry professionals and companies, local public health agencies and other government agencies, homeowners and property owners, renovators and builders, and the general public on rules and regulations, renovation, abatement and management methods, and regulated work practices.
