Keynote: Sustainability as a National Strategic Imperative - Retired Marine Col. Mark Mykleby works with LRN and the New American Foundation's Smart Strategy Initiative on sustainability. Originally from MN, Mark graduated from the Naval Academy and served in combat in the Balkans and Iraq. He served as special strategic assistant to the Chair of the Joint Chiefs of Staff developing the US Grand Strategy. He’ll share why sustainability is essential to national security, business competitiveness and vibrant communities.

Keynote: The Impact of a Corporate Culture of Sustainability on Corporate Behavior and Performance – Harvard Business School Professors Robert Eccles and George Serafeim will share highlights by video conference from their just-published, landmark HBS Working Paper. Using a matched sample of 180 companies, they found that those that adopted environmental and social policies many years ago – High Sustainability firms – exhibit fundamentally different characteristics from those adopting few of these policies. Most important, High Sustainability firms significantly outperform their counterparts over the long-term in terms of stock market and accounting performance.
