Oakland County is located in Southeast Michigan, with approximately 1.2 million residents. We have a mixture of city and rural landscapes. We are the headwaters to six watersheds. We have approximately 400 lakes. An internship here exposes the student to a variety of programs in local environmental health including: Shadowing staff conducting food service establishment inspections, on-site sewage disposal system permitting, and drinking water well program inspections. Training is given for conducting public swimming pool inspections and collecting water samples for the bathing beach program. Arrangements can be made for low-cost housing at a local university.
Thank you for your interest in Oakland County Health Division’s environmental health summer internship program.
