In the summer of 2010, Dr. Pierce applied for a Fulbright faculty scholarship to teach and conduct research in Finland during the spring 2012 semester. The statement below documents the first approval step in this process:

It is a pleasure to inform you that the peer review process organized by the Council for International Exchange of Scholars (CIES) has been completed and that you are among those recommended for a Fulbright Lecturing/Research award in Finland for the 2011-12 academic year. Please know that this peer review process constitutes only the first phase of the rigorous review process Fulbright applicants undergo.

If fully approved, this application would allow Dr. Pierce to teach environmental health courses, conduct metals in hair research with Finnish children, and explore international internships for UW-Eau Claire ENPH students.
