Many positions state the requirement of having an RS/REHS certification and two years of experience. However, I encourage you to apply for these positions, knowing that many positions will allow you to gain this experience and take the exam while employed.
A colleague in the field recently put it this way:
"Crispin, they can definitely apply upon graduation. Depending on what type of internship they've had (requirements for taking the RS exam include 1 year of inspection experience), they may not need to wait the full year to take the exam. Both our health department and local agencies hire in this manner (we hire them as Sanitarian 1's and they are generally promoted to San 2's after they pass the exam)." |
