Commuter Student (S) Permits

Parking imageStudents who live off campus and intend to drive and park at the university must purchase a parking permit. Unlimited permits are sold on a first-come, first-serve basis throughout the school year and can be purchased from the Parking and Transportation Services Office, 106 Schneider Hall. Blugold ID is required. Payment may be made by check, cash, Blugold Card, or Visa/Mastercard.

Student (S) permits are valid all year (Sept. 1-Aug. 31), Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in all lots except McPhee, where they're required from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

  • Standard Commuter Student Permit (S)
Fine Arts, Water Street , Phillips, Bollinger, and McPhee lots. Students are also allowed to park in Towers "R" spaces from 7 am - 9 pm Monday - Friday.
  • Economy Commuter Student Permit (E)
Bollinger Fields lot with regular bus service available to campus Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. It is located about six blocks from campus.

Resident Student Permit (R)

Since Residence Hall lots are for long term "garage parking", our office sells these lots at 100% or one permit for one parking space. To ensure fairness, these permits are granted by dorm lottery before the beginning of each academic year.

For students who are not successful in securing a space via the lottery, please refer to the Need Based Application (pdf) .

  • Resident Student Permit (R)
Bridgman, Governors, Oak Ridge, Putnam, Towers & Chancellors lots.

A permit holder may change vehicles by returning the old permit to our office and purchasing a replacement permit for $2.00; however, Residence Hall Permits can not be transferred to another vehicle or sold to another student. Please note: Illegal transference of permits can result in a $50.00 ticket and suspension from campus parking privileges. Students moving off-campus during the school year must return their permit for a refund and may purchase a commuter permit. Residence Hall lots are enforced 24 hours Monday-Friday. Residence Hall lots have open parking from 3:00 p.m. Friday to 6:00 a.m. Monday.

  • Economy Commuter Student Permit (E)
The Bollinger lot is located approximately six blocks from upper campus. This economy lot is on the University bus route (Route 9). In addition, special van shuttles are available between Bollinger Fields and the residence halls Sunday through Thursday from 10:30 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. through the Housing and Residence Life Office in Towers Hall. These spaces are allocated at the discretion of the Parking and Transportation Coordinator.
