Phase II and CUBEfest

WHAT IS PHASE II ORIENTATION?

Phase II is our chance to welcome all 2000 freshmen and incoming transfer students to UW-Eau Claire and to introduce you more fully to both the academic and social aspects of the university prior to the start of classes. It is your chance to meet people, both students and staff, to find your way around campus before classes begin and to ask any questions you have before continuing students arrive on campus.

Fall 2008:

• New freshmen and incoming transfer students move into the Residence halls on August 28, a day ahead of other students.
• On Friday, August 29, students will meet in small groups with faculty/staff and an upperclass mentor. Most students will meet with their freshman year experience instructor and begin to learn about the academic side of UW-Eau Claire. You will learn about the many support services available at the university while having lunch on the mall. And in the afternoon you will meet with faculty in the department of your major (undeclared students will meet with their advisers). You will also have an opportunity to find your classrooms before the start of classes. Phase II will conclude with a picnic on lower campus and convocation.
• Friday night begins CUBEfest (Creating the Ultimate Blugold Experience), many days of fun coordinated by Housing and Residential Life in conjunction with many offices across campus. CUBEfest, which includes entertainers, dances, tie-dying, a carnival, canoe rides, movies and much more, is open to ALL students.
