Planning your Finances

There are many things to think about when planning financially for college.

RESOURCES TO HELP PLAN YOUR FINANCES

  • TUITION INFORMATION - The Business Office Web site contains current information about fees and payment deadlines.
  • FINANCIAL AID - If you haven't applied for financial aid yet, the financial aid office has carefully outlined the application process.
  • FINDING A JOB - If you need to find a job, check out jobs both on and off campus at the on-line job board.
  • BUDGETING - If you would like to plan a budget you can use this worksheet.

QUESTIONS TO THINK ABOUT

  • Will you have a checking account? If so, where?
  • Will you have an ATM card? (There are free ATM machines on campus.)
  • Will you have a credit card?
  • Will you have a job?
  • Will you take out loans? (Check out the Financial Aid site for information on the type of loans.)
  • Who is responsible for paying tuition and fees? (Your bill will be emailed to you in August and then again in September. You can pay by check or credit card, in person, by phone or electronically.)
  • Who is responsible for paying room and board?
  • How much spending money will you have?
  • Do you have health insurance under your parent's plan or should you consider Student Health insurance?
  • What meal plan will you have? What if you run out of money on your plan?
  • How much money will you put on your blugold card?
  • Who will pay the phone bills?
