Online classes save driving and library time. Through the e-reserve, I got all the required journal articles for the course at home, and I also could request articles from UW-Eau Claire's library to be sent to me via e-mail.
The Bringing Instruction in Technology to Students (BITS) program provides training in computing skills for UW-Eau Claire students by providing free, usually one session, workshops taught by student trainers.
Personalized Assistance for Learning Success (PALS) was added to the BITS program in September 2000. Through this program, UW-Eau Claire students can receive one-on-one tutoring for software and computer skills. Since PALS can offer telephone consultation, this is an excellent option for students not in the immediate Eau Claire area.
You may make an appointment by calling the BITS and PALS office. When you call, you will be asked for a brief description of your experience and your current computer need. With this information, the PALS trainer will tailor the session to help you achieve your goals for the session. If this is for a class assignment or project, you will be asked to bring the assignment description and any relevant files with you.

Some texts must still be purchased. You have several options for ordering these:

UW-Eau Claire's ITM (Information Technology Management) Online Collection is a great resource for FAQ's, handouts, and HowTo's on these web based learning systems (WBLS). Other common software programs featured include Word, Excel, FrontPage, and PowerPoint. There are also tips for different operating systems.
The Computing and Networking Systems (CNS) Help Desk offers HowTo's as well as information on student networking and support and off-campus network/Internet access.
This may be an online course, but you will still need to use some good old-fashioned textbooks. As an enrolled student, you will have access to the following UW-Eau Claire Library resources.
You will have a full array of library services at your fingertips, including online access to McIntryre Library's catalog and 100+ databases, home delivery of books and journal articles, and librarians eager to assist you in finding information.
To access all of the information on these pages, you will need your username (the same one you use for your course) and your password (UWEC + your PIN).
