WI Rural Opportunities Foundation - Nursing

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
These scholarships are available for students from Wisconsin family farms, who have financial need and who are entering or continuing study at UW-Eau Claire in nursing, environmental and public health, or pre- veterinary medicine. If there are not sufficient approved applicants from family farms, consideration will be given to students who are from a rural Wisconsin area (not specifically a farm) and meet the other criteria. A rural area is defined as a township, village, or city with a population of less than 20,000 based on the most recent Federal Census. Academic achievement will also be considered for the award.
APPLICATION PROCEDURE:
Application Forms - Students who are admitted to the nursing program at UW-Eau Claire will receive an email in February when the scholarship application is ready and available. The email will include the path to the online application forms located on the Department of Nursing website – (http://www.uwec.edu/nurs/ on the bottom of the page under HOT LINKS). The forms are filled out and submitted online, AND a hard copy must be printed off and submitted along with a written essay to the Dean’s Assistant Office, Nursing 101, by the deadline. Written essay - each application must include one written essay in not more than 200-300 words. The essay must address the eligibility criteria for each of the scholarships that you are applying for. For Pre-Veterinary: Applications materials can be found online at the Department of Biology website: www.uwec.edu/biology/mainpage/Scholarships.htm. For ENPH: An email will be sent to all declared majors in February when the scholarship application form is ready and available. The email will include the path to the Online Application form. The form must be filled out and submitted online AND a hard copy must be printed off and submitted to the Dean’s Assistant office, Nursing 101 by March 3. Transcripts are required. Financial Need – For scholarships that indicate “financial need required” a FAFSA Financial Aid form must be filled out and there must be some level of financial need. Contact the Financial Aids office for the form at 715-836-3373. Please apply for financial aid by March 1.

SELECTION PROCEDURE:
For Nursing: College of Nursing and Health Sciences Scholarship Committee will select the recipient. For Pre-Veterinary: Scholarship recipients will be selected by the Department of Biology Scholarship Committee, which has faculty representation from the major subdisciplines of biology. Applications will be evaluated both in terms of their academic merit and their compatibility with award eligibility criteria. For ENPH: Scholarship committees shall be convened by the Department Chair. The funds shall be available for those students who are entering internships or practicum. Recipients shall be selected from the ENPH undergraduate degree program on a revolving basis. The committees shall be made up of the tenured faculty of the Department.
SELECTION DEADLINE:
For Nursing: Selection will be made prior to the Nursing scholarship dinner. For Pre-Veterinary: April 30 For ENPH: Determined by ENPH
NOTIFICATION:
For Nursing: The Dean will notify the recipient by letter and submit a “Scholarship Award Form” to the Financial Aid office. For Pre-Veterinary: The Department Chair will send a letter to the recipient and complete and submit a “Scholarship Award Form” to the Financial Aid office. For ENPH: Notification shall be made by the department chair of ENPH. The chairs will complete and submit a “Scholarship Award Form” to the Financial Aid office.
