Foundation Scholarships

WI Rural Opportunities Foundation - Nursing

These scholarships are available for students from Wisconsin family farms, who have financial need and who are entering or continuing study at UW-Eau Claire in nursing, environmental and public health, or pre-veterinary medicine. If there are not sufficient approved applicants from family farms, consideration will be given to students who are from a rural Wisconsin area (not specifically a farm) and meet the other criteria. A rural area is defined as a township, village, or city with a population of less than 20,000 based on the most recent Federal Census. Academic achievement will also be considered for the award.

Application Forms: Students who are admitted to the nursing program at UW-Eau Claire will receive an email in late February/early March when the scholarship application is ready and available. The email will include the path to the online application forms located on the Department of Nursing website – www.uwec.edu/CONHS/students/nursscholarships.htm. Part One is filled online and submitted electronically. Part Two (the essay and activities form) is filled online and printed off, signed and submitted to the Dean’s Assistant Office, Nursing 103, by the deadline. The essay must address the eligibility criteria for each of the scholarships that you are applying for. Only one written essay of no more than 300 words will be accepted. Financial Need – For scholarships that indicate “financial need required” a FAFSA Financial Aid form must be filled out and there must be some level of financial need. The form is on the FAFSA website: www. fafsa.ed.gov/#. If you have questions regarding the FAFSA form, please contact the UW-Eau Claire Financial Aid Office at 715-836-3373. Please apply for financial aid by March 1. For Pre-Veterinary: Applications materials can be found online at the Department of Biology website: www.uwec.edu/biology. For ENPH: An email will be sent to all declared majors in the ENPH program in late February/early March when the scholarship application form is available on-line. The email will include the path to the Online Application form. The form must be filled out and submitted online AND a hard copy must be printed off and submitted to the Dean’s Assistant office, Nursing 101 by the deadline. Transcripts are required. For scholarships that indicate “financial need required” a FAFSA Financial Aid form must be filled out and there must be some level of financial need. For Nursing: Second Monday in March For Biology: February 28 For ENPH: Second Monday in March

For Nursing: College of Nursing and Health Sciences Scholarship Committee will select the recipient. For Pre-Veterinary: Scholarship recipients will be selected by the Department of Biology Scholarship Committee, which has faculty representation from the major subdisciplines of biology. Applications will be evaluated both in terms of their academic merit and their compatibility with award eligibility criteria. For ENPH: Scholarship committees shall be convened by the Department Chair. The funds shall be available for those students who are entering internships or practicum. Recipients shall be selected from the ENPH undergraduate degree program on a revolving basis. The committees shall be made up of the tenured faculty of the Department.

For Nursing: Selection will be made prior to the Nursing scholarship dinner. For Pre-Veterinary: April 30 For ENPH: Determined by ENPH

For Nursing: The Dean will notify the recipient by letter and submit a “Scholarship Award Form” to the Financial Aid office. For Pre-Veterinary: The Department Chair will send a letter to the recipient and complete and submit a “Scholarship Award Form” to the Financial Aid office. For ENPH: Notification shall be made by the department chair of ENPH. The chairs will complete and submit a “Scholarship Award Form” to the Financial Aid office.
