AMOUNT: $1,500.00 AVAILABLE: Annually ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: This scholarship is available to assist a junior or senior level Elementary Education major with an above average GPA who has financial need. The student must have illustrated within the department that they are serious about a career in the teaching field. The award is open to students from any geographical region but it is intended for an undergraduate upper-level student. There may be multiple awards or full tuition awards when sufficient income has been generated in the principal fund as determined by the Foundation. Seniors who had received the award as juniors should apply again for their senior year.APPLICATION PROCEDURE: Qualifying students will receive an email in December with scholarship application information. Also, visit the webpage www.uwec.edu/coehs/forms/index.htm and go to Teacher Education Scholarships. Complete the form and submit it to the Education Scholarship Committee. Ask two members of the Department of Curriculum and Instruction faculty, who are familiar with your achievements at the University, to submit letters of recommendation to the Scholarship Committee.APPLICATION DEADLINE: Mid-February. Visit the webpage www.uwec.edu/coehs/forms/index.htm and go to Teacher Education Scholarships. Exact deadline will be in Scholarship Applications Directions.SELECTION PROCEDURE: The Education Scholarship Committee, in consideration with the Curriculum and Instruction Department, will review the applications/nominations and select the recipient.SELECTION DEADLINE: Approximately May 1. NOTIFICATION: The College of Education and Human Sciences will send a letter to notify the recipient. The Dean will also complete and submit a “Scholarship Award Form” to the Financial Aid Office.SPECIAL NOTES: The student is expected to attend the Education Recognition Event, generally held in May. |
