Wahlstrom, Lawrence Mathematics

AVAILABLE: Annually
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
Applicants must be of sophomore or first semester junior standing (30-74) who have completed or are currently enrolled in Math 216, declared mathematics major and have a Math and cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 each. The recipient must be a full-time student with equal consideration given to education or liberal arts students. Financial need is not a consideration. Any student meeting the eligibility requirements may apply.
APPLICATION PROCEDURE:
To be considered, a student must complete an application form, available in the Mathematics Office. As part of the application, each applicant must write a brief (50-100 words) statement concerning career objectives. Each applicant must have two math faculty members (not necessarily from UWEC) write a letter of support to the Chair of the Awards Committee.
APPLICATION DEADLINE: February 20
SELECTION PROCEDURE:
Selection will be based on demonstrated performance and potential in math including such things as GPA, career objective, communication skills, creativity, ingenuity, reliability, enthusiasm for the discipline, and participation in class and other Department activities.
SELECTION DEADLINE: March 1
NOTIFICATION:
The recipient will receive notification and be honored at the University Awards Banquet. The Chair will complete and submit a “Scholarship Award Form” to the Financial Aid office.
SPECIAL NOTES:
Recipient should write a letter of thanks to the family of Lawrence and Dorothy Wahlstrom and forward it to the Foundation Office, S-214.
