AMOUNT: Variable; Total awards at $400 AVAILABLE: Annually ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: Student should be a winner of each category for the Women’s Studies Awards, a student research/project competition.APPLICATION PROCEDURE: Faculty mentors nominate student works. Each entry must include a faculty statement or recommendation and all pertinent attachments before submission to the Women’s studies judges’ panel. Students are encouraged to contact a professor to initiate the process for the award.APPLICATION DEADLINE: Early spring semester, exact date variesSELECTION PROCEDURE: A Women’s Studies Faculty committee reviews all projects and selects the award winners.SELECTION DEADLINE: Prior to the Women’s Studies Celebration held during Women’s History monthNOTIFICATION: Winners are announced at the annual Women’s Studies Celebration held during Women’s History Month. Written notification of the scholarship recipient should be sent to the Financial Aid and Foundation Offices.SPECIAL NOTES: Helen X. Sampson was an outstanding teacher and strong advocate of women’s rights on campus and in the community. She joined UW-Eau Claire’s English Department in 1955 and retired in 1976. She was an early promoter of Women’s Studies at the university, where the Women’s Studies Resource Center was established in her name. |
