Foundation Scholarships

Applicants must be of junior, senior, or graduate status with acceptance into the College of Education and Human Sciences or Graduate Studies at UW-Eau Claire. Applicants must be making satisfactory progress toward an undergraduate or graduate degree in Elementary Education (or equivalent degree) with a grade point average of 3.25 (or its equivalent) or higher. Applicants may be full-time or part-time students. Applicant must be recommended in writing by at least two faculty members from the Teacher Education Program Faculty (at least one from MCEA Program Faculty). Applicants must illustrate financial need.

Qualifying students will receive an email in December with scholarship application information. Also, visit the webpage www.uwec.edu/coehs/forms/index.htm and go to Teacher Education Scholarships. Complete the form and submit it to the Education Scholarship Committee. Ask at least one member of the Teacher Education Program who is familiar with your achievements at the University to submit a letter of recommendation to the Scholarship Committee.

The selection committee shall be composed of three faculty members from the College of Education and Human Sciences, with preference for the Associate Dean of the School and members of the Elementary Education Department.

The Associate Dean will send a letter to the recipient with a copy to the Financial Aid and Foundation Offices.

Recipients are asked to write a letter of thanks to the “Friends of Juanita Sorenson” and forward it to the Foundation Office, S-214.
