ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
Open to students who attend high school the previous spring, are enrolled in college for the first time, and who are enrolled full time at UW-Eau Claire. Students who have graduated from high school must be in the top 15% of their graduating high school class. Students must have an ACT composite score of at least 28 and a math component score of at least 30. Students must have declared mathematics major or minor. (Previous Al Rolland scholars are ineligible.) There will be one scholarship award made during the fall semester and one award made during the spring semester. APPLICATION PROCEDURE:
The Awards Committee will contact Registration Services and obtain a list of all eligible students. The Awards Committee will then contact all eligible students requesting that they apply for the scholarship. To apply, a student must submit a resume along with an application letter indicating any specific mathematical activities and accomplishments in Mathematics.
APPLICATION DEADLINE:
The letter of application and resume’ should be submitted to the Mathematics Department Office within 10 days after being notified of eligibility status by the Awards Committee.
SELECTION PROCEDURE:
The Awards Committee in the Mathematics Department will select the award recipient.

NOTIFICATION:
The recipients will receive notification by letter, with a copy sent to the UW-Eau Claire Financial Aid and Foundations Offices. In addition, the recipients will be recognized at the Spring Honors Banquet at UW-Eau Claire. (Alternatives are available for students who receive full tuition scholarships at UWEC.)
SPECIAL NOTES:
All nominees will receive official notification from the Department of Mathematics. The Department chair will complete and submit a “Scholarship Award Form” to the Financial Aid and Foundation offices.
