ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
The Spring Semester award is open to students in the Spring of their senior year in high school who plan to enroll full time at UW-Eau Claire during the following fall semester. This award will be applied to student’s tuition in the fall semester. The Fall Semester award is open to students who attended high school the previous spring, are enrolled in college for the first time, and who are enrolled full time at UW-Eau Claire. This award will be applied to student’s tuition in the spring. Students must be in the top 15% of their graduating high school class. Students must have an ACT composite score of at least 28 and a math component score of at least 30. Students must have declared mathematics major or minor. (Previous Al Rolland scholars are ineligible.) There will be one scholarship award made during the fall semester and one award made during the spring semester.
APPLICATION PROCEDURE:
The Awards Committee will contact Registration Services and obtain a list of all eligible students. The Awards Committee will then contact all eligible students requesting that they apply for the scholarship. To apply, a student must submit a resume along with an application letter indicating any specific mathematical activities and accomplishments in Mathematics.
APPLICATION DEADLINE:
For the spring award, application must be postmarked by April 10. For the fall award, the letter of application and resume’ should be submitted to the Mathematics Department Office (HHH 508) within 10 days after being notified of eligibility status by the Awards Committee.
SELECTION PROCEDURE:
The Awards Committee in the Mathematics Department will select the award recipient.
SELECTION DEADLINE:
Mid to late April for the spring award. Mid to late October for the fall award.
NOTIFICATION:
The recipient of this scholarship will receive a notification letter and will be honored at the Department of Mathematics Graduation and Awards Celebration. The Department will complete and submit a “scholarship Award Form” to the Financial Aid Office.
SPECIAL NOTES:
All nominees will receive official notification from the Department of Mathematics. The Department chair will complete and submit a “Scholarship Award Form” to the Financial Aid and Foundation offices.
