For a continuing student majoring in one of the liberal arts (art and design, music and theatre, communication and journalism, philosophy and religious studies, English, foreign languages, history, American Indian Studies, Women’s Studies, Latin American Studies, or Liberal Studies who has demonstrated service and leadership to the campus and/or community and shows promise as a future community leader. The student(s) should have a broad interest in the liberal arts. Preference will be given to Communication and Journalism majors.

The Department of Communication and Journalism Scholarship Committee will select the recipient.

The Chair of the Department of Communication and Journalism will send notification to the recipient and complete and submit a “Scholarship Award Form” to the Financial Aid Office.

A letter of gratitude addressed to Mrs. Ruth Anne Polk should be submitted directly to the Department of Communication and Journalism program assistant. The winners of this scholarship are expected to attend the Department of Communication and Journalism Student Excellence Recognition Reception held the last day of spring classes.
