AMOUNT: $600 AVAILABLE: Annually ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: The scholarship will be awarded to an incoming full-time freshman from Minnesota that intends to major in accounting at UW-Eau Claire and work in the profession upon graduation. The applicant must have participated in school or community organizations and exhibited a potential for leadership. Diversified students are encouraged to apply for this award. Financial need is required. Candidates must have a minimum of a 25 composite on the ACT (or comparable SAT) AND rank in the top 25% of their graduating class (or GPA of 3.5) to be eligible.APPLICATION PROCEDURE: To be considered for Incoming Freshman Student Admissions Scholarships, just submit the application for admission. There is no separate application to apply, though demonstration of financial need is required for certain merit-based scholarships. Your application for admission will be considered for all scholarships for which you are eligible. If you have questions, please contact the Admissions Office at (715)836-5415.SELECTION PROCEDURE: The Admissions Office will coordinate the selection process, which is highly competitive. The process is based off of the student’s admissions profile including: transcripts, academic history, list of involvements and essays. These are among the criteria that will be reviewed for scholarship purposes.SELECTION DEADLINE: Screening of candidates will begin in December for some early awards and continue through the spring or until awards are accepted.NOTIFICATION: Scholarship award notices will be sent to scholarship recipients by the beginning of April of student’s senior year. If scholarships are declined, they will be re- awarded to alternates through the summer months.SPECIAL NOTES: The recipient should send a thank-you note to the Carl and Eloise Pohlad Foundation, in c/o the Accounting and Finance Department. The Pohlad Scholarship was established as a manifestation of their esteem for the UW-Eau Claire Department of Accounting and Finance in preparation of accountants for the profession. In addition, the Pohlad’s wished to recognize the importance of a recipient’s broad range of activities—both academic and non-academic. |
