AVAILABLE: Annually
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
The scholarship will be awarded to an incoming full-time freshman from Minnesota that intends to major in accounting at UW-EC and work in the profession upon graduation. Candidates must rank in the top 25% of their graduating class and have a minimum of a 25 composite on the ACT (or comparable SAT). The applicant must have participated in school or community organizations and exhibited a potential for leadership. Diversified students are encouraged to apply for this award. Financial need is required.

The general incoming freshmen scholarship application is available online at: www.uwec.edu/admissions/paying.htm. Admitted, eligible candidates are encouraged to apply. APPLICATION DEADLINE: February 1
SELECTION PROCEDURE:
The Admissions Office in consultation with the Chair of the Department of Accounting and Finance will select the scholarship recipient.
SELECTION DEADLINE:
Screening of candidates will begin in December and continue through spring. Selections will be made no later than April 30 or until recipients have accepted all the awards.
NOTIFICATION:
The Admissions Department will send a notification letter to the recipient, with a copy sent to the Chair of the Accounting and Finance Department, Financial Aid and Foundation Offices.
SPECIAL NOTES:
The recipient should send a thank-you note to the Carl and Eloise Pohlad Foundation, in c/o the Accounting and Finance Department. The Pohlad Scholarship was established as a manifestation of their esteem for the UWEC Department of Accounting and Finance in preparation of accountants for the profession. In addition, the Pohlad’s wished to recognize the importance of a recipient’s broad range of activities—both academic and non-academic.
