Foundation Scholarships

Latin American Studies

Recipient must be a junior or senior declared Latin American Studies major at UW-Eau Claire, enrolled the fall semester after receiving the award. If candidates are of equal strength, preference will be given to the senior.

Application is available in the Foreign Languages Office. Student will hand in a portfolio with the following documents: verification of having studied abroad; an official UW-Eau Claire transcript; a 250-350 word essay in Spanish about his/her experience studying abroad and his/her future plans; a 250-350 word essay in English stating why he/she chose LAS as a major and why he/she thinks it is important to major in LAS; and a letter of reference from a UW-Eau Claire faculty/staff member (excluding members from the LAS scholarship committee). Student will also have an oral interview with the LAS scholarship committee. The questions for this interview will be posed in English and Spanish.

The recipient will be determined by the Committee for Latin American Studies.

The committee chair will notify the recipient. The department chair will complete and submit a “Scholarship Award Form” to the Financial Aid office.

Letters of appreciation should be directed to the committee for Latin American Studies; c/o the Foundation Office.
