SPECIAL NOTES:
This scholarship was established in memory of Ted Leslie, who attended UW-Eau Claire from 1996-2000. Ted was a junior pursuing an Art major and Philosophy minor when he was stricken by brain cancer in 1999. After recovering from paralysis and multiple surgeries, he returned to campus to pursue his studies while undergoing intense cancer treatments. Although his primary artistic focus had been printmaking, Ted’s illness brought about a renewed interest in drawing and painting. At the time of his death in October 2000, he was enrolled in an independent study in painting. Ted’s family and friends have created this scholarship to honor his talent, his passion for creative expression, and the indomitable spirit, which compelled him to pursue life and art with integrity and intensity. Letters of appreciation should be jointly addressed to James Leslie, Naomi Haugen, and Peter Mansfield, in care of the Foundation Office.
