Foundation Scholarships

Hearst, William Randolph

This award is funded by the William Randolph Hearst Foundation under the auspices of the ASJMC: Association of Schools of Journalism and Mass Communication. Grants from the Hearst Journalism Awards Program are received based on student entries in monthly writing, photojournalism and/or news competition. Scholarships are awarded to continuing journalism majors for outstanding achievement in writing, photo and broadcast journalism.

Application forms are available in the Department of Communication and Journalism office.

The Communication and Journalism Department Scholarship Committee will select the recipient.

The recipient(s) are notified directly by the Chair of the Department of Communication and Journalism prior to the Spring Journalism convocation. The Chair will complete and submit a “Scholarship Award Form” for each recipient to the Financial Aid Office.

A letter of gratitude addressed to Program Director, Journalism Awards Program, William Randolph Hearst Foundation should be submitted directly to the Department of Communication and Journalism program associate. The winner of this award is expected to attend the Department of Communication and Journalism Student Excellence Recognition Reception held the last day of spring classes.
