Foundation Scholarships

Recipients must be continuing juniors or seniors active in public speaking and oral persuasion and be Communication (Communication Studies, Public Communication, or Organizational Communication), Mass Communication (Advertising or Public Relations) or Journalism, Broadcast Journalism, or Print Journalism majors or minors. The applicant also should be one of the following: (1) a student preparing for a career as a high school speech communication teacher planning to teach Speech Communication classes and/or coach forensics, (2) a student preparing to go to law school, and/or (3) a student preparing to do graduate studies in Communication. Applicants preparing for a career as a high school speech communication teacher must have earned a total GPA of 3.0 or better. Applicants preparing to go to law school must have an overall GPA of 3.5 or better. Applicants preparing to do graduate studies in Communication must have earned a total GPA of 3.4 or better. This scholarship may be renewable for juniors.

The selection committee is made up of the Director of Forensics and the Assistant Director.

Notification will be made by the Director of Forensics to all applicants. The Department Chair will complete and submit a “Scholarship Award Form” to the Financial Aid Office.
