AMOUNT: Two awards available, $1,500 Total
AVAILABLE: Annually
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
Recipients must be continuing juniors or seniors active in public speaking and oral persuasion and be one of the following: Communication major or strong Communication minor student preparing for a career as a high school speech communication teacher with a GPA of 3.0 or better overall. Such a student should be preparing to teach Speech Communication classes and/or coach forensics. A Communication major or strong Communication minor preparing to go to law school. Such a student must have an overall GPA of 3.5 or better and have an established LSAT score of 600+. A Communication major preparing to do graduate studies in Communication (public speaking emphasis only) with an overall GPA of 3.4 or better. This scholarship may be renewable for juniors.
APPLICATION PROCEDURE:
Applications are available in the Director of Forensics office.
APPLICATION DEADLINE: May 1
SELECTION PROCEDURE:
The selection committee is made up of the Director of Forensics and the Assistant Director.
SELECTION DEADLINE: June 1
NOTIFICATION:
Notification will be made by the Director of Forensics to all applicants. The Department Chair will complete and submit a “Scholarship Award Form” to the Financial Aid Office.
