ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
To provide financial assistance to full-time students who, through their pre-college academic success and extracurricular activities, have demonstrated outstanding scholarship and leadership to school and community. Applications will be accepted from students in the Black River Falls School District. Preference will be given to Black River Falls School District applicants although students residing in other districts in Jackson County will be considered after special nomination by the scholarship committee. Applicants must rank in the upper 25 percent of their high school senior class following completion of the seventh high school semester. Need is not a determining factor but will be a factor in calculating the level of support. The scholarship will be awarded for one year upon enrollment at UW-Eau Claire. The scholarship is renewable for one year if a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher is met.
APPLICATION PROCEDURE:
Application forms and scholarship announcements (available from Sue Leadhom at Black River Falls High School) will be forwarded to Jackson County high schools by October 1 of the year preceding the award.
APPLICATION DEADLINE:
Applications must be returned to Sue Leadhom at Black River Falls High School by March 1.
SELECTION PROCEDURE:
Applications will be reviewed by a scholarship committee composed of three individuals: a representative of the Black River Falls School District (a guidance counselor), a representative of the UW-Eau Claire Admissions Office, and a representative of the Homstad family.
SELECTION DEADLINE:
April 1 or before the Black River Falls High School awards day.
NOTIFICATION:
Sue Leadhom will send a notification letter to the recipient, with a copy also sent to the Financial Aid and Foundation offices before June 1.
