ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
This scholarship is designed to recognize entering freshmen for their outstanding talent and career promise in music. Financial need may be considered, but is not required.
APPLICATION PROCEDURE:
All freshmen music majors who have completed their entrance audition are eligible for consideration. Each performance area (keyboard, strings, voice, wind and percussion) will forward their two best candidates from the annual audition pool to a scholarship sub-committee of the Friends of Music Steering Committee.
APPLICATION DEADLINE:
Applicants will be reviewed after the last regularly scheduled audition is completed, usually by early April.
SELECTION PROCEDURE:
The sub-committee will review applications and solicit recommendations from the candidates’ high schools. The sub-committee will then select the recipients and notify the Steering Committee of its selection.
SELECTION DEADLINE: Approximately May 1
NOTIFICATION:
Recipients will receive notification from the Chair of the Music and Theatre Arts Department. The Chair of the Department of Music and Theatre Arts will also complete and submit a “Scholarship Award Form” to the Financial Aid office for each recipient.
SPECIAL NOTES:
The recipient should send a thank-you letter to the Friends of Music in care of the department chair of the Music and Theatre Arts Department.
