Diversity Achievement

The Diversity Achievement scholarship exists to recruit and retain students of color or economically disadvantaged students enrolled at UW-Eau Claire. This scholarship is funded by the UW-Eau Claire Foundation. It is awarded in conjunction with federal and state financial aid grants and/or private scholarships. New, entering and transfer students who are African American, Hispanic/Latino, American Indian/Alaskan Native, Asian or economically disadvantaged are eligible. Eligible new students must rank in the top 25% of their high school graduating class. Eligible transfer students or those from an unranked high school must have a minimum GPA of 3.0. Students’ involvement in extracurricular and community activities will also be considered.

The Diversity Achievement application is available online at: www.uwec.edu/multicultural.htm. Admitted, eligible students are encouraged to apply. If you meet the eligibility requirements and cannot access the online application, please contact the Office of Multicultural Affairs at 715-836-3367 or 888-895-4903. Students are encouraged to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)via online at www.fafsa.ed.gov in order to apply for other financial aid. If other grants or awards are available, they will be counted as part of the Diversity Achievement award prior to the addition of the financial support from the UW-Eau Claire Foundation. Office of Multicultural Affairs staff will determine scholarship recipients.

15th. Screening of applications and awarding scholarships will begin December 1 for early awards and continue through April 30 or until recipients have accepted all the awards. Scholarship recipients will be notified by April 1. Alternates may be contacted later if a recipient declines an award.

The Office of Multicultural Affairs will notify and present the awards to scholarship recipients at the Office of Multicultural Affairs’ annual scholarship banquet in September. Office of Multicultural Affairs will fill out a “Scholarship Award Form” and submit it to the Financial Aid Office.
