AMOUNT: Up to $3,000 per semester (five scholarships awarded annually)AVAILABLE: Annually. Renewable for an additional three years; total value up to $24,000. Recipients must maintain a 3.0 cumulative GPA and complete at least three-fourths of enrolled credits. Recipients must participate in Multicultural Affairs’ retention activities.ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: Diversity Scholars exists to recruit and retain students of color or economically disadvantaged students who have achieved academic excellence. Diversity Scholars is funded by the UW-Eau Claire Foundation. It is awarded in conjunction with federal and state financial aid grants and/or private scholarships. New, entering students who are African American, Hispanic/Latino, American Indian/Alaskan Native, Southeast Asian or economically disadvantaged are eligible. Eligible students must also rank in the top 25% of their graduating class and have an ACT composite score of 25/1700 SAT. Students’ involvement in extracurricular and community activities will also be considered.APPLICATION AND SELECTION PROCEDURE: Diversity Scholars application is available online at www.uwec.edu/admissions/paying.htm. Admitted, eligible students are encouraged to apply. If you meet the eligibility requirements and cannot access the online application, please contact Admissions at 715-836-5415 or the Office of Multicultural Affairs at 715-836-3367 or 888-895-4903. Students are encouraged to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)via online at www.fafsa.ed.gov in order to apply for other financial aid in addition to the scholarship support from the UW- Eau Claire Foundation. Office of Multicultural Affairs staff will determine scholarship recipients.NOTIFICATION: Admissions will notify the recipients and their high school guidance counselors once the scholarship is awarded. The scholarship will be presented at the Office of Multicultural Affairs’ annual scholarship banquet in September. |
