Foundation Scholarships

Bertelson, Mae

To be eligible for the scholarship, the student must: be an undergraduate elementary education major and must have completed or be completing the Junior Block; have been recommended by his/her teaching experience; be a full- time student with a resident GPA of 3.50 or higher; and must have demonstrated high potential for success as an elementary teacher. Award is to be applied to tuition/fees and other educational expenses while student teaching.

Qualifying students will receive an email in December with scholarship application information. Also, visit the webpage www.uwec.edu/coehs/forms/index.htm and go to Teacher Education Scholarships. Complete the form and submit it to the Education Scholarship Committee. Ask two members of the Department of Curriculum and Instruction faculty, who are familiar with your achievements at the University, to submit letters of recommendation to the Scholarship Committee.

Mid-February. Visit the webpage www.uwec.edu/coehs/forms/index.htm and go to Teacher Education Scholarships. Exact deadline will be in Scholarship Applications Directions.

Selection will be based on the criteria above. The scholarship will be paid while the student is student teaching (either fall or spring semester)

Letter from the Associate Dean will notify the scholarship recipient. A copy of the award letter should be sent to Ken Bertelson, the son of Mae Bertelson. The Associate Dean will complete and submit a “Scholarship Application Form” to the Financial Aid office.

The recipient should send a thank-you letter to Dr. Ken Bertelson, c/o UW-Eau Claire Foundation.
