Baker-Smith Musicology

at the time of registration in the fall.

The recipient must be a full-time Music Major with at least 90 semester hours completed at the time the award is received. The award is in recognition of excellence in the areas of Music History and Theory.

No application procedure. All candidates eligible are considered.

While David Baker and Ed Smith are both employed in the UW-Eau Claire Department of Music and Theatre Arts, they will jointly determine the recipient. If at a future date, only one of them is on the Music faculty, that one will make the determination. When Dr. Baker and Dr. Smith are no longer on the faculty, the selection will be made by vote of the Theory and Music History faculty who will be convened jointly by the Coordinators of the Theory and Music History Divisions.

Those responsible for the selection will notify the Department Chair who will, in turn, notify the recipient and announce the award at the Annual Departmental Awards Ceremony in May. A copy of the award letter must be sent to the Financial Aid Office.

It is suggested that the recipient write a brief note of thanks to Dr. David A. Baker and Dr. Edwin L. Smith c/o the Department of Music and Theatre Arts. Following their retirement, notes should be directed to the donors’ home addresses.
