AMOUNT: $35,000 total. $1,000 scholarship and $1200 stipend for work with faculty; renewable as sophomore.AVAILABLE: Annually, for more information visit: www.uwec.edu/BlugoldFellows/.ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: Candidates must have a minimum of a 25 composite on the ACT (or comparable SAT) AND rank in the top 25% of their graduating class (or GPA of 3.5) to be eligible. A Blugold Fellowship is offered to an incoming freshman as a special opportunity to serve as a research or project assistant to faculty.APPLICATION PROCEDURE: To be considered for Incoming Freshman Student Admissions Scholarships, submit the application for admission and the Blugold Fellowship Application found at http://www.uwec.edu/Admissions/scholarships/index.htm. If you have questions, please contact the Admissions Office at (715)836-5415.SELECTION PROCEDURE: The Admissions Office will coordinate the selection process, which is highly competitive. The process is based off of the student’s admissions profile including: transcripts, academic history, list of involvements, essays and the Blugold Fellowship Application. These are among the criteria that will be reviewed for scholarship purposes.SELECTION DEADLINE: Screening of candidates will begin in December for some early awards and continue through the spring or until awards are accepted.NOTIFICATION: Scholarship award notices will be sent to scholarship recipients by the beginning of April of student’s senior year. If scholarships are declined, they will be re- awarded to alternates through the summer months.SPECIAL NOTES: The Blugold Fellowship Award supercedes the Freshman Honors Scholarship. If a recipient receives a larger Foundation award (e.g. Freshman Honors Scholarship, Chancellor’s, Diversity, etc.), the larger award replaces the $1,000 award. |
