Blugold Fellowship

$1,000 scholarship and $1200 stipend for work with faculty; renewable as sophomore

Offered to incoming freshmen as a special opportunity to serve as research or project assistants to faculty. Criteria for selection include exemplary high school academic records, contribution to high school and community, and an essay written as part of the scholarship application process. Must rank in top 25% of their class and have an ACT of 25 or greater (or comparable SAT). Or, if they are from an unranked class, student will need to have their counselor verify a rank in the top 25% and have the required ACT/SAT score.

The general incoming freshmen scholarship application is available online at: www.uwec.edu/admissions/paying.htm. Admitted, eligible candidates are encouraged to apply. If you feel you meet the application requirements and cannot access the online application, please contact the Admissions Office at (715)836-5415.

A committee from Academic Affairs and Admissions will select and recommend the recipients to members of the University faculty/staff.

Screening of candidates will begin in December and continue through the spring. Final selections will be made no later than April 30 (or until recipients have accepted all the awards). Students who are admitted by November 30, have the highest potential of being selected for this special honor.

The Office of Admissions will notify scholarship recipients (and their high school counselors once the award is accepted).

The Blugold Fellowship Award supercedes the Freshman Honors Scholarship. If a recipient receives a larger Foundation award (e.g. Freshman Honors Scholarship, Chancellor’s, Diversity, etc.), the larger award replaces the $1,000 award.
