ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
Applicants for this scholarship must be majoring in a Foreign Language. There is a first preference for a student majoring in French, but it is not required. Student must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. There is also a preference for a financial need but it is not required.
APPLICATION PROCEDURE:
Application forms are available in the Department of Foreign Languages. A brief statement including biographical details, campus activities, and plans for the future is requested.
APPLICATION DEADLINE: First Tuesday in March
SELECTION PROCEDURE:
All members of the French faculty who are on campus will review the applications and select a scholarship recipient. The committee then informs the Department Chair of the recipient selected.
SELECTION DEADLINE: May 1
NOTIFICATION:
An award letter will be sent to the recipient by the Foreign Language Department Chair. The Chair will also complete and submit a “Scholarship Award Form” to the Financial Aid Office.
SPECIAL NOTES:
Dr. Martha Worthington first established this fund in 1997. She joined the UW-Eau Claire English and Foreign Languages faculty in 1966. From 1975-1982, she served as special assistant to the vice chancellor. She returned to teaching in 1982 and retired from UW-Eau Claire in 1983. Dr. Worthington died on March 14, 2009, at the age of 90. Thank you notes should be written to Lee Puig-Antich, Dr. Worthington’s daughter, and forwarded to the UW-Eau Claire Foundation Office, S-214.
