AMOUNT: $500.00 AVAILABLE: Available ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: The Chippewa Valley Newspaper Les Polk Copy editing Scholarship is designated for a continuing Spectator staff member who has demonstrated excellence in copy editing and has made major contributions to the success of The Spectator. The recipient of this award must return to The Spectator in the fall.APPLICATION PROCEDURE: Application forms are available in the Department of Communication and Journalism office.APPLICATION DEADLINE: early to mid April SELECTION PROCEDURE: A committee of the Department of Communication and Journalism faculty which includes The Spectator adviser will select the recipient.SELECTION DEADLINE: early to mid April NOTIFICATION: The recipient will be sent a notification letter by the Chair of the Department of Communication and Journalism. The Chair will also complete and submit a “Scholarship Award Form” to the Financial Aid Office.SPECIAL NOTES: This award was established in honor of Mr. Leslie Polk, a print journalism professor at UWEC for 18 years. Prior to coming to UWEC, Polk worked as a copy and news production editor at the Wall Street Journal. A letter of gratitude addressed to Mr. Mark Baker, Chippewa Herald, should be submitted directly to the Department of Communication and Journalism Department Associate. It is expected that the recipient of this award attend the annual Ann Devroy Forum in late April and the Department of Communication and Journalism Student Excellence Recognition Reception held the last day of spring classes. |
