Spectator-Dave Gordon Reporting

AVAILABLE: ANNUALLY
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
The Dave Gordon Reporting Scholarship is designated for a continuing Spectator reporting and/or photography staff member who has demonstrated excellence in reporting and has made major contributions of time and effort to the editorial success of The Spectator. The Communication and Journalism Scholarship Committee will select the recipient from the nominations. The recipient of this award must return to The Spectator staff in the fall.
APPLICATION PROCEDURE:
Applications are available in the Department office.
APPLICATION DEADLINE: early to mid April
SELECTION PROCEDURE:
A committee of the Department of Communication and Journalism faculty which includes The Spectator adviser will select the recipient.

NOTIFICATION:
The recipient will be sent a notification letter by the Chair of the Department of Communication and Journalism. The Chair will also complete and submit a “Scholarship Award Form” to the Financial Aid Office.
SPECIAL NOTES:
This award was established in honor of Dr. David Gordon, professor and chair of the Department of Communication and Journalism from 1997-2002, particularly for his efforts in establishing close ties between the department and the Wisconsin Newspaper Association and his success in working with The Washington Post to establish the Ann Devroy Fellowship and the Ann Devroy Memorial Forum. A letter of gratitude addressed to Dr. David Gordon should be submitted directly to the Department of Communication and Journalism Department program associate. It is expected that the recipient of this award attend the annual Ann Devroy Forum held in late April and the Department of Communication and Journalism Student Excellence Recognition Reception held the last day of spring classes.
