WI Rural Opportunities - Biology

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
This scholarship is available for a student from a Wisconsin Family farm, who has financial need and who is entering or continuing study at UW-Eau Claire in pre- veterinary medicine. If there is not sufficient approved applicants from family farms, consideration will be given to students who are from a rural Wisconsin area (not specifically a farm) and meet the other criteria. A rural area is defined as a township, village, or city with a population of less than 20,000 based on the most recent Federal Census. Academic achievement will also be considered for the award.

APPLICATION DEADLINE:
Second Monday in March
SELECTION PROCEDURE:
The Biology Scholarship Committee will make its selection based upon the criteria above. The Biology Scholarship Committee has faculty representation from the major sub- disciplines of biology. Applications will be evaluated both in terms of their academic merit and their compatibility with award eligibility criteria.
SELECTION DEADLINE:
Second Monday in March
NOTIFICATION:
An award letter will be sent to the recipient by the Chair of the Department of Biology in May. The Chair will also complete and submit a “Scholarship Award Form” to the Financial Aid Office. The annual recipient will be honored at the biology department scholarship reception held in the spring.
