Wiensch, Joan M. Memorial Nursing


AMOUNT: Five awards $500, $2,500 total
AVAILABLE: Annually
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
The recipient must be accepted as a student in the graduate or undergraduate Nursing program at UW-Eau Claire with demonstrated financial need. The preference is that the recipient be a graduate of McDonell Central High School in Chippewa Falls, WI. If there is no qualified applicant from McDonell, then selection should be made of a graduate of Chippewa Falls or Bloomer High School. If there is still no qualified applicant, then the recipient can be selected who has graduated from any other school district in Wisconsin.
APPLICATION PROCEDURE:
Application Forms: Students who are admitted to the nursing program at UW-Eau Claire will receive an email in late February/early March when the scholarship application is ready and available. The email will include the path to the online application forms. PART ONE is filled online and submitted electronically. PART TWO (the essay and activities form) is filled out online and printed off, signed and submitted to the Dean’s Assistant Office, Nursing 103, by the deadline. Only one essay can be submitted. The essay must address the eligibility criteria for each of the scholarships that they wish to apply for. Financial Need: For scholarships that indicate “financial need required” a FAFSA Financial Aid form must be filled out and there must be some level of financial need.
APPLICATION DEADLINE: Second Monday in March
SELECTION PROCEDURE:
The Nursing Scholarship Committee will review applications and select the recipient.
SELECTION DEADLINE:
Prior to the Nursing scholarship dinner
NOTIFICATION:
The Dean of Nursing and Health Sciences will send notification to the recipient by letter and submit a “Scholarship Award Form” to the Financial Aid Office.
SPECIAL NOTES:
The recipient should send a thank-you letter to Robert Wiensch, husband of the late Joan Wiensch, in care of the UW-Eau Claire Foundation Office, Schofield Hall 214.
