AMOUNT: $250 AVAILABLE: Annually ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: The Frank A. Thomas Memorial Scholarship has been established to benefit nontraditional art majors at the University of Wisconsin to be an outstanding art student and role model for fellow art majors. Potential and performance should be the primary considerations for selecting the recipient; financial need is not a consideration. Should the recipient have art selected for the Juried Art Show, the recipient has the option of having the department use the $250 to purchase the art work from the student for the university’s permanent art collection. If the recipient does not have work in the art show and/or prefers not to have his/her work purchased, the award shall be treated as a scholarship and applied to the recipient’s tuition at UW-Eau Claire.APPLICATION PROCEDURE: The student must submit a completed application form available in the Art Department Office. The student must write a brief statement of his or her philosophy of aesthetic goals and objectives (200-300 words).APPLICATION DEADLINE: Last Friday in March SELECTION PROCEDURE: The Art Department’s scholarship committee shall review the applications and select the recipient.SELECTION DEADLINE: Second Friday in April NOTIFICATION: The recipient will be announced at the annual juried student art show. A “Scholarship Award Form” shall be completed and sent to the Financial Aid Office by the Art Department. In the event artwork of the student is purchased, a memo will be sent to the Financial Aid Office informing them that the purchase was made in lieu of the scholarship award.SPECIAL NOTES: The recipient is asked to write a thank-you note addressed to the Frank A. Thomas Scholarship and sent in care of the UW-Eau Claire Foundation, S-214. |
