Foundation Scholarships

Strop, Jerry & Jean Excellent Teacher


AMOUNT: One at $3,000
AVAILABLE: Annually
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
This scholarship is available to incoming freshmen through senior status. The purpose of the scholarship is to attract and retain top academic achievers to a career in elementary or secondary education. The scholarship is intended for a student who is a member of the first generation in his/her immediate family to have the opportunity to attend a university; incoming freshmen, as well as continuing University students, must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0; applicants must give evidence of employment—at least 150 hours of employment, over the prior two-year period. The scholarship may be renewable. The student must re-apply to be considered for a subsequent award.
APPLICATION PROCEDURE:
Qualifying students will receive an email in December with scholarship application information. Also, visit the webpage www.uwec.edu/coehs/forms/index.htm and go to Teacher Education Scholarships. Complete the form and submit it to the Education Scholarship Committee. Ask two members of the Department of Curriculum and Instruction faculty, who are familiar with your achievements at the University, to submit letters of recommendation to the Scholarship Committee.

Mid-February. Visit the webpage www.uwec.edu/coehs/forms/index.htm and go to Teacher Education Scholarships. Exact deadline will be in Scholarship Applications Directions.
SELECTION PROCEDURE:
Selection procedures are to be determined by the Education Scholarship Committee with the approval of the Dean of the College of Education and Human Sciences.
SELECTION DEADLINE: April 1
NOTIFICATION:
The Dean will notify the student by letter. The Dean will also complete and submit a “Scholarship Award Form” to the Financial Aid office.

The recipient should send a thank-you note to Dr. Jean and Mr. Jerry Strop in care of the UW-Eau Claire Foundation Office, Schofield Hall 214.
