Stricklin, Brian Memorial

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
The scholarship shall be awarded to an outstanding honors student from Waukesha County planning to attend UW-Eau Claire. Candidates must rank in the top 25% of their graduating class and have a minimum of a 25 composite on the ACT (or comparable SAT.) Preference will be given to students planning on majoring in business and/or who have interest in gaming, environmental protection or future study overseas opportunities. This is a one-year, non- renewable scholarship to be awarded to an incoming student.

The general incoming freshmen scholarship application is available online at: www.uwec.edu/admissions/paying.htm. Admitted, eligible candidates are encouraged to apply. If you feel you meet the application requirements and cannot access the online application, please contact the Admissions Office at (715)836-5415.

SELECTION PROCEDURE:
Before the end of spring semester
NOTIFICATION:
The Admissions Office will notify the Brian Stricklin family of the name of the intended recipient before the recipient is notified. The Admissions Office will notify the recipient and submit the “Scholarship Award Form” to the Financial Aid Office so that the scholarship may be applied to the recipient’s tuition account with the University. Whenever possible, the family of Brian Stricklin would like to participate in a high school awards ceremony to present a scholarship certificate to the recipient.
SPECIAL NOTES:
The Brian Stricklin Memorial Scholarship was established with memorial and family gifts received by the UW-Eau Claire Foundation following the sudden death of Brian T. Stricklin in August 2004 at his home in Waukesha. Brian was born in Waukesha on July 16, 1981 to Glenn and Carol Stricklin. He was a 1999 graduate of Waukesha West High School, where he was an honor student. He was a voracious reader and avid gamer. In May 2004, he graduated cum laude from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, where he was also an active member and officer of the UW-Eau Claire Gamers Guild. Recipients are expected to send a thank you letter addressed to Glenn and Carol Stricklin and send it to the UW-Eau Claire Foundation, 214 Schofield Hall, PO Box 4004, Eau Claire, WI 54702-4004.
