Stricklin, Brian Memorial

AVAILABLE: Annually
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
The scholarship shall be awarded to an outstanding honors student from Waukesha County planning to attend UW-Eau Claire. Preference will be given to students planning on majoring in business and/or who have interest in gaming, environmental protection or future study overseas opportunities. This is a one-year, non-renewable scholarship to be awarded to an incoming student. Candidates must have a minimum of a 25 composite on the ACT (or comparable SAT) AND rank in the top 25% of their graduating class (or GPA of 3.5) to be eligible.
APPLICATION PROCEDURE:
To be considered for Incoming Freshman Student Admissions Scholarships, just submit the application for admission. There is no separate application to apply, though demonstration of financial need is required for certain merit-based scholarships. Your application for admission will be considered for all scholarships for which you are eligible. If you have questions, please contact the Admissions Office at (715)836-5415.
SELECTION PROCEDURE:
The Admissions Office will coordinate the selection process, which is highly competitive. The process is based off of the student’s admissions profile including: transcripts, academic history, list of involvements and essays. These are among the criteria that will be reviewed for scholarship purposes.
SELECTION DEADLINE:
Screening of candidates will begin in December for some early awards and continue through the spring or until awards are accepted.
NOTIFICATION:
Scholarship award notices will be sent to scholarship recipients by the beginning of April of student’s senior year. If scholarships are declined, they will be re- awarded to alternates through the summer months.
SPECIAL NOTES:
The Brian Stricklin Memorial Scholarship was established with memorial and family gifts received by the UW-Eau Claire Foundation following the sudden death of Brian T. Stricklin in August 2004 at his home in Waukesha. Brian was born in Waukesha on July 16, 1981 to Glenn and Carol Stricklin. He was a 1999 graduate of Waukesha West High School, where he was an honor student. He was a voracious reader and avid gamer. In May 2004, he graduated cum laude from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, where he was also an active member and officer of the UW-Eau Claire Gamers Guild. Recipients are expected to send a thank you letter addressed to Glenn and Carol Stricklin and send it to the UW-Eau Claire Foundation, 214 Schofield Hall, PO Box 4004, Eau Claire, WI 54702-4004.
