Steffen, Marsha M (Zuehlke) Class of 1969-Nursing

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
The recipient must be accepted as a full-time student at the UW-Eau Claire College of Nursing and Health Sciences in the Traditional Bachelor of Science in Nursing (TBSN) program and have financial need based on the FAFSA financial need form. Recipient must demonstrate good motivation and commitment to the nursing profession. First preference would be a graduate of Eau Claire Memorial High School, second preference would be a graduate from a high school in the City of Eau Claire, third preference would be a graduate from a high school in Eau Claire County, and fourth preference would be a graduate from a high school in the State of Wisconsin. This award may be renewed up to two years provided the recipient maintains a 3.2 GPA.
APPLICATION PROCEDURE:
Application Forms: Students who are admitted to the nursing program at UW-Eau Claire will receive an email in late February/early March when the scholarship application is ready and available. The email will include the path to the online application forms. PART ONE is filled online and submitted electronically. PART TWO (the essay and activities form) is filled out online and printed off, signed and submitted to the Dean’s Assistant Office, Nursing 103, by the deadline. Only one essay can be submitted. The essay must address the eligibility criteria for each of the scholarships that they wish to apply for. Financial Need: For scholarships that indicate “financial need required” a FAFSA Financial Aid form must be filled out and there must be some level of financial need.
APPLICATION DEADLINE: Second Monday in March
SELECTION PROCEDURE:
The Nursing Scholarship Committee will review applications and select the recipient.
SELECTION DEADLINE:
Prior to the Nursing scholarship dinner.
NOTIFICATION:
The Dean of Nursing and Health Sciences will send notification to the recipient by letter and complete and submit a “Scholarship Award Form” to the Financial Aid Office.
SPECIAL NOTES:
This scholarship fund was established in 2009 by Marsha (Zuehlke) and Robert Steffen. Marsha Steffen graduated from UW-Eau Claire in 1969 with a BSN in nursing and is a retired nurse clinician from the University Health Service at UW-Madison. Robert Steffen graduated from UW-Eau Claire in 1968 with a degree in business administration and is a retired administrator from the IT Department at UW-Madison. Recipient should send a letter of thanks to Marsha and Robert Steffen and forward it to the UW-Eau Claire Foundation Office, S-214.
