AMOUNT: $450 AVAILABLE: Annually ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: One scholarship will be awarded annually to an outstanding education major who has graduated from a Wisconsin high school and demonstrated a passion for setting goals and persisting, sometimes through various obstacles, on the path toward reaching a dream. The recipient shall have financial need. Students majoring in broadfield social studies major who meet the initial criteria should receive first consideration. The primary objective of the scholarship is to reward students with great potential and encourage them to continue to strive to succeed. The scholarship may be renewed if the recipient maintains satisfactory academic progress and continues to demonstrate a passion for education and desire to succeed.APPLICATION PROCEDURE: Qualifying students will receive an email in December with scholarship application information. Also, visit the webpage www.uwec.edu/coehs/forms/index.htm and go to Teacher Education Scholarships. Complete the form and submit it to the Education Scholarship Committee. Ask at least one member of the Teacher Education Program who is familiar with your achievements at the University to submit a letter of recommendation to the Scholarship Committee.APPLICATION DEADLINE: Mid-February. Exact deadline will be in Scholarship Applications Directions.APPLICATION DEADLINE: March 1 SELECTION PROCEDURE: Selection procedures are to be determined by the Education Scholarship Committee with the approval of the Dean of the College of Education and Human Sciences.NOTIFICATION: The Chair of the Education Scholarship Committee will notify the recipient by letter. The Chair will submit a “Scholarship Award Form” to the Financial Aid office.SPECIAL NOTES: Patricia Arts Rinaldi was a nontraditional student who returned to college to earn her degree in education after marrying and starting her family. She then taught at Eau Claire Memorial High School for two years before leaving education to devote the rest of her career to working in partnership with her husband, Emil. This scholarship is a tribute to Patricia’s determination and commitment to setting and achieving her life’s goals. Mrs. Rinaldi died in 1999. Recipients should address thank-you letters to her husband, Emil Rinaldi, and send them to the UW-EC Foundation, S-214, UW-Eau Claire. |
