AMOUNT: $500.00 AVAILABLE: Annually ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: The Martin Mogensen Education Scholarship is intended to give financial assistance to an undergraduate Education (elementary, secondary or special) major who has attained a high level of scholarship and who shows promise for becoming a successful career teacher. To be eligible for the scholarship, the student must be from Wisconsin; have a resident GPA of 3.5 or higher; and be a full-time student. Students who are parents should be given special consideration.APPLICATION PROCEDURE: Qualifying students will receive an email in December with scholarship application information. Also, visit the webpage www.uwec.edu/coehs/forms/index.htm and go to Teacher Education Scholarships. Complete the form and submit it to the Education Scholarship Committee. Ask at least one member of the Teacher Education Program who is familiar with your achievements at the University to submit a letter of recommendation to the Scholarship Committee.APPLICATION DEADLINE: Mid-February. Exact deadline will be in Scholarship Application Directions.SELECTION PROCEDURE: Selection will be based on the above criteria.SELECTION DEADLINE: On or about April 1st.NOTIFICATION: By letter. The dean will complete and submit a “Scholarship Award Form” to the Financial Aid office.SPECIAL NOTES: This scholarship was established by the daughters of Martin Mogensen, Marti Mogensen and Margaret Nelson Brinkhouse, and other Mogensen family members in memory of Martin Mogensen, a 1952 UW-Eau Claire graduate. Mogensen became one of the first victims of a school shooting in this country when, at the age of 46, he was killed by a student in the Tomah school where he served as principal.
